Hi there! I am so happy that you have stumbled across this little corner of the internet that I intend on making my own. Let me tell you a little bit about what you can expect to find here and the kind of content I am planning on publishing.
But before all of that, let’s delve into a little bit more about me. Because who doesn’t love a little dump about themselves?
I’m Casey-May, a 28-year-old mum from the UK. It still feels so strange to write that I am a mum after wanting to be one for so long. Plus, I still feel about 16 at heart, so what the hell… I’m a mum. Mamacita.
I grew up in South East London and later went to university in South West London, before life led me over to Bristol. After living here for six years, I found my soulmate and better half, Jack.
Anyone you ask will tell you that we had a whirlwind romance. We were together for four months before moving in together, then two months later we got pregnant, five months after that we got engaged, and now, a year after our baby was born, we’ve bought a house together.
Crazy.
But that’s enough random oversharing with the internet for one post. Let’s get down to the nitty gritty…
Why start this blog?
After becoming a mum, I realised just how overwhelming the internet can be.
Information here. Information there. Book here. TikTok post there. Science-backed evidence here. Random mum on the internet there.
No tea, no shade. It’s just exhausting trying to work out what information you can actually trust and what is simply a quick hack from someone trying to make a quick buck.
Having been given a lot of time to think about my life’s path and what I want to do with it, I realised that this is what I want to focus on.
I have always worked with children, and now I have my own. I have the professional and personal experience, as well as the academic knowledge, having studied Early Childhood Studies. I’m also currently working towards my Advanced Child & Brain Nutrition Advisor qualification.
Not that I’m trying to flex or anything…
And why share it?
I have always had a passion for sharing my food ideas. From having a food Instagram account when I was learning how food and lifestyle could support my PCOS, to having a passion for throwing dinner parties and having people over for dinner, food is my love language.
I’m a CHRONIC oversharer, and there is no way I’d be able to keep all this information to myself.
That would just be selfish.
But now for the big question…
What are my dreams for this blog?
I have a vision.
I want to share content for everyone. New parents, busy parents, working parents, professionals… basically, anyone who wants to feel more confident about nourishing their children.
I want this space to become a hub for like-minded people who want to give their children great food without feeling like they have to be perfect.
My posts are all going to come from the perspective of a working mum, a modern day realistic mum.
I ain’t no trad wife. I’m not going to be supplying you with recipes that take seven hours to cook over the weekend.
It’s also coming from someone who has worked professionally in early years.
If I had a penny for every time I convinced a child at my setting that this is the new recipe they should try because they’ll definitely like it this time, I would be an actual millionaire.
As if that wasn’t enough, it’s also going to come from a place of knowledge.
And as you’ll come to know, knowledge is power — especially when it comes to nutrition.
What to expect
Blog posts about baby-led weaning and where to start, recipe ideas, shopping lists and realistic tips on what to buy. How bad really are the modern day baby food with the epidemic of new ones on the market, what ones can you actually trust.
I’ll also be throwing in some real-life stories and experiences.
Every now and then, I’ll throw in some food-for-thought posts too, talking about nutrition, the importance of what we feed our children and why it matters.
Expect to see posts about dealing with fussy eating, making vegetables more appealing, and busting some of the myths surrounding food for babies and young children as well.
What NOT to expect
Long blog posts just to get to a recipe. When I’m looking for a recipe I don’t have time to read about how this was a hit at your son’s 9th birthday party.
Perfectly polished pictures. Whilst I’ll include photos to make things fun, my blog isn’t about perfection. Life is too busy to take a picture without a little bit of mess in the background.
And don’t expect must-follow guides or unrealistic expectations.
Anyone who has a child knows that they are really the boss when it comes to food time. So embrace it.
If you like the sound of this, then please stick around. I would love to have you join our community.
Send me an email with any topics you want covered and I’ve got your back, boo.
Until the next post.
Stay funky and full of goodness,
Casey-May xox
